‘Wire’ Meehan fundraiser Nov. 18 at Duncan Theater

Helping those in need is always something local people have rushed to do when families are in need.
An upcoming fundraiser will be a perfect opportunity for others to show their compassion.
On Nov. 18 at the Duncan Theater and Event Center in Killbuck, the doors will open at 3 p.m. for a benefit for Dan “Wire” Meehan and his wife Julia.
The event will support the Meehan family and assist in the couple’s growing medical bills.
There will be plenty of food and a 50/50 raffle drawing with tickets available for purchase throughout the evening. With a social hour starting at 3 p.m., the main event will begin at 4 p.m. with a live auction hosted by auctioneer Adam Campbell.
Borderline and Ron Meehan will perform live starting at 7 p.m. with wristbands available for purchase starting at 3 p.m. Anyone with questions or wanting to provide donations to the fund can call or text Erica Gamertsfelder at 330-231-9181. The family continues to accept donations for the auction.
“Wire” Meehan has always been a devoted, hardworking and selfless man who has always been involved with community. He began working in the area as a teenager and just kept on working throughout his adulthood.
When he wasn’t working, he was putting his skills to use as a handyman for both his family and others in need, always enjoying the challenges brought to his attention for whatever project needed work.
However, in January 2019, Dan Meehan was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and dementia, forcing him to put aside his work and focus on his health and well-being. PPA is a rare type of dementia that is caused by damage to parts of the brain that control language, personality, emotions and behavior.
In May of this year, Meehan was moved to Majora Lane, Speret Hall in Millersburg, as physicians continue to seek the best way to provide the necessary care for “Wire.”
This benefit event will be a celebration of Meehan’s 66th birthday, of his life and the joy he has brought to so many people in the area.
Join family and friends as they honor Meehan and help meet the Meehans’ financial medical needs while enjoying an evening of food, festivities and music.
