Walnut Hills Retirement Community is seeking entries for its annual art show for older adults, to be held in Walnut Creek Oct. 6-7.

The 2023 Creativity is Timeless contest is open to amateur artists age 55 or older who reside in Holmes County or within a 2-mile radius of the county line including the Baltic, Sugarcreek, Fredericksburg, Dundee and Wilmot areas.

Artists may submit up to three entries, and there is no entry fee. All art must have been completed when the artist was age 55 or older. The art categories are paintings and drawings, photography, quilts and wall hangings, other soft crafts (crochet, knitting and other needlework), woodworking, other hard crafts (stained glass, ceramics and more), and miscellaneous (jewelry, wreaths, stamping, scrapbooking and other crafts).

Awards will be presented in each category, and there will be awards for Best of Show and People’s Choice.

“We look forward every year to the outstanding, creative pieces of artwork submitted by older adults in the area,” said Paula S. Miller, community relations director. “We encourage anyone over 55 who enjoys creating, whether it’s with wood, yarn, paint, clay, thread, a camera or something out of the ordinary, to participate.”

Over the 12 years the Creativity is Timeless show has been hosted at Walnut Hills, there have been almost 900 pieces of artwork displayed by more than 160 artists.

Entry forms must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 22. The entry forms are available at Walnut Hills on Olde Pump Street in Walnut Creek, the Garaway Senior Center in Sugarcreek and the Darb Snyder Senior Center in Millersburg. Entry forms also can be submitted via the Walnut Hills website at www.walnuthillsliving.org.

This year the Creativity is Ageless event will be held in conjunction with a Fall Festival on the Walnut Hills campus. In addition to the art exhibit on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be hayrides, family photos, food and games.

“Mark your calendars now for Oct. 7,” Miller said. “It will be a great day to celebrate creativity, have fun as families and enjoy the beauty of fall in Walnut Creek.”

For more information call Miller at 330-893-3200 ext. 1354.
