Tuscarawas County Art Guild welcomed David Kovack at recent meeting
David Kovacks freelance art career has not only taken him down a long road, but also long hallways, church corridors, high school gyms, and to the beach. Presently, a North Canton resident, he began his journey air-brushing T-shirts at Ocean City, N.J. for several years. After graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, he worked at designing advertising brochures. The mural he painted in a childs room, led to several requests, including the one for a childrens jungle-theme playroom in Cantons Aultman Hospital; and a very involved project for a local, church corridor. His slide program for the Tuscarawas County Art Guilds August meeting featured his three-stage painting technique, which he also applies to his online, digital advertising assignments for The Canton Repository. Art Guild president, Marcie Dryden of Tuscarawas, welcomed the seven guests in attendance to introduce themselves, and give a brief synopsis of their art interest. Dryden also announced the dates of Oct. 21-23 for the Guilds Fall Art Show at New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia. She discussed the requirements for show participation. The annual Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts Show is scheduled for late November, through the first weekend in January 2012.The members were reminded to mark their calendars for the Christmas party on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Bistro 131, at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of entertainment, there will be a handmade Christmas ornament exchange. Refreshments were served by Arlene Dusini and Judy Boose, both of New Philadelphia. The Art Guild is open to all visual artists and photographers of any skill level, working in any medium.
