Successful year for Women's Committee for the Wooster Symphony Orchestra
The Women’s Committee for the Wooster Symphony Orchestra wound up another successful year of orchestra support, with their annual Spring Luncheon May 3 at the Wooster Country Club, with Jeffrey Lindberg, music director, three students and 42 members in attendance, including three charter members.
Entertainment was provided by two of the three Music Achievement award winners, Aimon Dwan, cello; Eva Woo, violin and the Judy Nihlen Award winner, Jung Yoon Wie, piano.
A reading, The Importance of Music in Society by Karl Paulnack, was read by chairwoman Carol Eberhart.
Members who passed away during the 2012-13 year, including: Deanie Collins, Kathryn Dykstra, Pauline Cooper, Gladys Franks and Flo Gault, were remembered.
Special recognition was given to Joyce Roe, for her 25 years of faithful service with the Music Ladies, who help to prepare the fourth graders for attendance at the annual Children’s Concert, which is sponsored by the Women’s Committee and given by the Wooster Symphony Orchestra each spring.
The luncheon concluded with the recognition and presentation of a carnation to each of the current officers and committee chairs and the election of officers for the 2013-14 year: Judy Kastelan, chairwoman; Sally Horning, vice chairwoman; Kathleen Howman, treasurer; Ann Gregor, recording secretary; and Mary Ann Merchant, corresponding secretary.
