Not happy with neighbor, village

Letter to the Editor,
A Holmes County grant was given to a property owner on North Mad Anthony Street in Millersburg after he failed to comply with village ordinances. Numerous complaints were given to the administrator over the past several years, and nothing was done, to the point where the overgrowth was unsafe for surrounding neighbors.
During the storm last June, a huge limb fell and destroyed my roof. After attempting to contact this man, unsuccessfully, I had to pay to replace my roof that his tree had destroyed. After this, I finally received some help from the commissioners when they saw how dangerous the situation had become.
This man bought his property in 2007, and after the county cleaned it up for him, he brought a plan forward, begging for a chance to no longer neglect this property and asking the village to rezone it for him. The man would like to build a duplex, and he expects the council in Millersburg to ignore everything he’s done to this point and trust his word that he will take care of this property.
This man has retained an attorney to demand my porch be torn down because it encroaches on his property by inches, a porch that has been there for over 37 years.
My employment requires me to work evenings, and I have been represented at meetings by a council member, showing pictures and my objections to this duplex. At a zoning meeting, my neighbor brought a draft forward and was told, in order for it to be passed, he had to bring a new draft showing off-street parking as is required by a village ordinance. At the public hearing, he did not have a new draft showing off-street parking. He expected everyone to trust his word.
How do you justify giving this man, who has proven he will not take care of his property, chance after chance? We obviously have a few members of council who aren’t doing the best they can for the people of Millersburg and an administrator who doesn’t follow through. Your voters demand better.
