Milligan among inductees into Aultman HHS

Aultman Health System has inducted three local physicians into the Hippocrates Honor Society, recognizing their excellence, compassion, integrity and leadership.
Among them, Dr. Charles Milligan, D.O., stood out for his contributions to family medicine and the Orrville community over nearly four decades.
Throughout his career Milligan, a family practitioner, demonstrated leadership. He served on the Orrville Hospital Foundation Board of Directors from 1992-2001 and again from 2007-13, where he assumed key positions on the board executive committee including treasurer, secretary, vice chair and chair. In 1998 he also served as the medical staff president at Aultman Orrville Hospital.
His influence extended beyond the local hospital. In 2019-20 Milligan served as president of the Ohio Osteopathic Association, showcasing his commitment to advancing the medical field at the state level. His leadership and expertise earned him widespread recognition among his peers.
Milligan earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing his residency at Doctors Hospital (Affinity) in Massillon, he embarked on a 39-year medical career serving Orrville and surrounding areas. He became an integral member of Aultman Orrville Hospital’s medical staff.
As a board-certified family practitioner, Milligan made significant contributions to newborn care at Aultman Orrville Hospital. He delivered countless babies and at times single-handedly maintained the hospital’s newborn care coverage. He was instrumental in training and mentoring numerous medical students and residents, nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Beyond his clinical achievements, Milligan’s devotion to the community was evident. For many years he served as the team physician for various high school sports teams, ensuring the health and safety of young athletes. His involvement with the Lions Club further exemplified his commitment to community service.
In recognition of his service and dedication, the staff of Aultman Orrville Hospital honored him by dedicating the hospital’s labor and delivery room in his name after his retirement. This tribute stands as a testament to his impact on patients, colleagues and the entire Orrville community.
Joining Milligan in the 2024 Hippocrates Honor Society induction are Dr. Anthony Degenhard, D.O., a nephrologist who has played a role in enhancing physician communication and wellness initiatives, and Dr. Allison Oprandi, M.D., who has demonstrated a commitment to patient-centered care and mentoring families in need.
