Millersburg Village Council meets

Millersburg Village Council held a regular council meeting on July 10.

Several items of note took place during the meeting.

Legislation

Council approved an ordinance authorizing Mayor Jeff Huebner to enter a contract with Kimble Recycling & Disposal Inc., competitively bid by the Village of Sugarcreek, for refuse collection and disposal and curbside recycling and a contract for the billing for said services and declaring an emergency.

MPD officers recognized

Police Chief Matt Shaner presented Meritorious Conduct and Valor Rewards to village officers Dustin Badertscher, Kristopher Jones, Caleb Cox and Stephanie Genet for their efforts during two structure fires in the village.

Shaner also informed council that Hunter Derrick started with the police department on July 16 as a patrolman, bringing the number of road officers up to seven.

Shaner also reported the police department was currently down a couple of police cruisers. One was having transmission issues. The other was being repaired after damage caused by a deer. Shaner said the newly purchased police cruiser should come sometime in August.
