The trustees of the Austin-Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation have approved grants totaling $213,500 to 12 nonprofit organizations and nine schools. The foundation supports programs that promote the physical and mental well-being of the people residing in Holmes, Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties.

The foundation provided $41,000 in scholarships to students engaged in health-related studies at Aultman College, Kent State Stark, Kent State Tuscarawas, Malone University, Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, Stark State College, University of Akron Wayne College, University of Mount Union and Walsh University.

Those receiving grants included the following:

—The Christian Children’s Home of Wooster, which received $5,000 for a program to help vulnerable children or youth return to their normal developmental stage.

—Mt. Eaton Care Center of Mt. Eaton, $19,900 for an equipment update and room renovation.

—OneEighty Inc. of Wooster, $5,000 to initiate a primary care services program.

—Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare of Wooster, $10,000 for a grief counseling program.

Others receiving grants were Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital of Canton, Compassion Delivered of Hartville, Faith in Action of Massillon, Quota International of Massillon, Refuge of Hope of Canton and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Akron.

Schools receiving grants were Osnaburg Local School District of East Canton and the Stark County Education Service Center of Canton.

The foundation has two grant cycles each year and welcomes grant requests that are health and wellness related. It is suggested nonprofit organizations call the foundation office first to discuss their project or program. The deadline for submitting grants for the next cycle is Nov. 28.
