Local Citizens Climate Lobby members attend conference

Members of the local chapter of the Citizens Climate Lobby attended the annual conference in Washington, D.C.
One-thousand participants from every state of the union met at the Omni Shorham Hotel in Washington, D.C. for this year's conference. Local chapter founder Juli Douglass-Gillespie and members David Gillespie and Marilyn Hyde, all from Wooster, attended the event.
The conference kicked off with a documentary film about the Pope’s encyclical on the climate and his invitation to people from around the globe to work together to help the planet and all its life. This film, "The Letter," can be viewed on YouTube.
The rest of the weekend consisted of workshops, seminars and informational lectures, followed by member teams visiting Capitol Hill to meet with their respective representatives and senators.
Citizens Climate Lobby is a nonpartisan national organization formed to find ways of slowing the forces impacting Earth’s weather. Current lobby efforts focused on reform of the permitting process so green and clean technologies can be more expediently approved. Members of Congress from both parties favor such reform.
