To the Editor: I am writing to proudly tell all my fellow Wayne County voters that I am crossing party lines and enthusiastically endorsing Judge Latecia Wiles for Wayne County Probate and Juvenile Court Judge. As a former judge myself, I know what it takes to be an effective judge. Only Judge Wiles has the dedication, compassion, energy and new ideas for the job. Judge Wiles brings a broad base of knowledge and wealth of legal experience to the court. She has spent her career litigating cases before the court, defending the court’s decisions on appeal, protecting children and the elderly, and helping others. As a former prosecutor, Judge Wiles was instrumental in creating the Wayne County Volunteer Guardianship Association to help the mentally challenged and was the recipient of the Meritorious Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of the Year award. She possesses that same high level of professionalism and dedication as our current probate and juvenile court judge. In contrast to Judge Wiles’ honest, straightforward campaign, I have been disappointed in her opponent’s tactics this election year. Judge Wiles’ opponent ran an ad that tries to imply, with a 10 year old quote, that former Judge Raymond Leisy supports him, when in fact former Judge Leisy has publicly endorsed Judge Wiles and serves on her campaign committee. On Nov. 6, please vote to keep honesty, integrity, dedication and energy in the Wayne County Probate and Juvenile Court. Vote to keep Judge Latecia Wiles. Bill RickettFormer Wayne County Municipal Court Judge
