The Holmes County District Public Library has the following events and programs scheduled for September. Call the library at 330-674-5972 for more information or to register for any of these events:

Story times

Kids age 2-5 with an adult are invited to join for stories, songs, rhymes and more at the East Branch Library on Wednesdays, Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 10:30 a.m.

Kids age 2-5 with an adult are invited to join for stories, songs, rhymes and more at the Central Library on Fridays, Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29 at 10:30 a.m.

Little Learners Playgroup

Kids up to age 5, with an adult, will engage in activities to promote reading and social skills at the Central Library on Fridays, Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 11 a.m. to noon. Snacks are provided.

Paws to Read

Kids are invited to read to a certified therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines at the Central Library on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Flower Arrangements 101

Join Rachel Pendlebury from Gable Crest Gardens to learn the basics of fresh flower arranging, then try your hand at creating an arrangement to take home at the Central Library on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. Registration is required.

STEAMKids Club

School-age kids will learn how to code a Sphero Robot at the Central Library on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Family Movie Matinee

Come to the Central Library for the “Super Mario Bros Movie” (rated PG) on the big screen on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. Movie-related crafts will be available for the kids, and snacks will be served. Registration is required.

Making Jerky

The event will be at the Central Library on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension services educator, will share the process of making jerky and some of the different flavors and styles. Registration is required.

Family Lego Night

Families are invited for some Lego building at the Central Library on Monday, Sept. 25 from 5:30-6:45 p.m.

Book discussion for adults

The event will be held Tuesday, Sept. 26 discussing “Last Bus to Wisdom” by Ivan Doig at the Central Library at 1 p.m. and “Cutting for Stone” by Abraham Verghese at Jitters Coffee House in Millersburg at 6 p.m. Books are available to borrow at the Central Library.
