Halloween parade in Loudonville

Several Halloween-themed activities will take place Saturday, Oct. 28 in downtown Loudonville.
The annual Halloween parade is slated to begin at 4 p.m. at C.E. Budd School and continue down Main Street. Spectators will see a variety of entries in the parade.
“Some people make Halloween-themed floats,” said Valerie Spreng, Loudonville Chamber of Commerce executive director. “Some people dress up and walk in the parade. Last year there were some old classic cars in the parade. There are all different kinds of stuff.”
Floats and walking/marching units that are decorated will be judged, and awards will be given to the top three entries.
For those who want to participate in the parade but haven’t signed up yet, the entry deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 25. The entry form can be submitted to the Loudonville Mohican Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 247, Loudonville, OH 44842, or emailed to chamber@loudonvillechamber.com.
After the parade ends, a kids costume contest will take place in the Park National Bank parking lot. A bunch of different prizes will be awarded to four different age groups: 0-2, 3-4, 5-8 and 9-12.
“The bank parking lot is always full (during the costume contest),” Spreng said. “I think last year we had almost 200 kids participate in the costume contest.”
The day’s activities will wrap up with candy being handed out by downtown businesses from 5-6 p.m. and then the residential trick or treat taking place from 6-7 p.m.
“Almost all the businesses participate in that,” Spreng said. “All kids love parades, so it’s fun for them if they’re participating (in it) or just watching. All kids like trick or treat and getting candy and that kind of stuff.
“It’s fun for them to get out and have fun.”
