Foltz to speak about CAMO

Dover native Rachel Foltz, assistant director of CAMO USA and project manager of the Yoro Project, will share about her expanded role with Central American Medical Outreach on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Dover Public Library.
She will provide details on current and upcoming projects, specifically in the areas of medicine and education that are bringing hope to the forgotten in Honduras. Foltz will share her experiences in Honduras and CAMO’s impact in over 100,000 lives each year.
Central American Medical Outreach was founded 30 years ago by Orrville native Kathryn Tschiegg. During her service as a Peace Corps nurse in Central America, Tschiegg witnessed first-hand the many hardships that impoverished people faced.
In 1993 Tschiegg established CAMO as a nondenominational, Christian-based humanitarian organization that brings life-saving medical services, education and community development to Central America. CAMO’s initial focus was to provide equipment, supplies and education to Honduran doctors and nurses so they would have the tools to save lives.
Today, more than 205 volunteers in the United States and Honduras provide medical services and medical equipment and supplies to needy areas. CAMO’s central office is located in Orrville.
This program will be held in the community room at the DPL, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover. Register online at www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123.
