Farmers market hosts Customer Appreciation Day

The Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market will hold its annual Customer Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 3-7 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds in Dover.
During the event customers can get a free bag of popcorn, courtesy of market vendor My Favorite Popcorn Company by Fierbaugh Farms. Shoppers also can stop by the information booth to sign up for a chance to win one of five gift baskets filled with products from market vendors and choose one item of TVFM swag, like a reusable shopping bag, magnetic shopping list, jar opener or pencil.
At 5 p.m. market-goers can attend a demonstration inside the Clover Café, where Amy Murray will show participants how to make apple cider, applesauce and pies. From 5-7 p.m. live music will be provided by Howie Campbell. Shoppers also can pick up a meal from the Three Lil Piggies food truck, which will be set up onsite during the market.
The producers-only market is made up of local vendors from within 50 miles of the Dover/New Philadelphia area, and all participating vendors must be the author of the products they sell at the market. Visit www.tvffm.org/our-vendors for a detailed list of vendors and their product offerings.
Including Customer Appreciation Day, there are just three market days left in the regular season. The final market will be held Wednesday, Oct. 11, but the seventh annual Holiday Market also will take place Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 3-7 p.m. at New Towne Mall, which will feature locally grown and produced foods and also local arts and crafts vendors.
The market participates in several programs that assist qualifying individuals with the cost of purchasing fresh produce at the market including SNAP/Ohio Direction Card, Produce Perks, the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, P-EBT (School Lunch Card) and WIC.
Additionally, if you visit the market but don’t have cash, bring your credit or debit card to the market’s information booth to swipe and receive Carrot Cash tokens to spend anywhere at the market just like cash. Check out the guide posted on the homepage at www.tvffm.org for information about the different types of tokens, vouchers and other currency accepted at the market.
