Expected CAUV soil value changes topic of meeting

Under state law and department of taxation rules, real property in all counties is reappraised every six years, and property values are updated in the third year following each sexennial reappraisal. This year is a triennial update year for property values for both Ashland and Wayne counties.
To help inform CAUV landowners as to the changes that are expected to CAUV soil values, the Wayne County Auditor’s Office and Wayne County Farm Bureau will host a meeting on Aug. 29 for all Farm Bureau members of counties with a triennial update or sexennial reappraisal in Northeast Ohio. Affected counties in the region include Ashland, Wayne, Summit, Knox, Richland, Harrison and Noble.
Program speakers will include a welcome and topic introduction by Jarra Underwood, Wayne County auditor, and Roger Baker, Ohio Farm Bureau District 8 state trustee. Jack Irvin, Ohio Farm Bureau’s vice president for public policy, will follow with a recap of the CAUV formula and what is expected for 2023 soil values in Northeast Ohio. Kelly Hettick, Wayne County auditor’s in-house appraiser, will wrap up with comments around farmland market trends.
The meeting will take place at Fisher Auditorium on the OSU Wooster campus, 1680 Madison Ave., and the program will last from 7-8:30 p.m. A trade show featuring agribusinesses and representatives from several county auditor offices will run from 6-7 p.m. and 8:30-9 p.m.
This event is only available to Farm Bureau members and their household to attend, with membership verified at arrival. Nonmembers can join their county Farm Bureau onsite and attend the meeting. Members from outside of the Northeast Ohio region are welcome to attend as this information is relevant across the state of Ohio. Registration is encouraged.
To register, call the Wooster Farm Bureau office at 330-263-7456 or register at the link on wayne.ofbf.org.
