East Holmes Schools continued to revamp its music department, hiring a new band director to go with its hiring of a new choir director earlier this summer.

East Holmes Local School District recently announced the hiring of Zachary Rearick as the new band director for the upcoming school year.

Hiland Principal Tyler Renner said, “We welcome Zachary to the district and are so looking forward to seeing what great things he will accomplish. We take great pride in our music education programs, and we are confident he will be an excellent addition to our staff.”

Originally from Central Pennsylvania, Rearick attended Malone University in Canton, where he earned a degree in music education. For the past two years, he served as the band director at Lake Center Christian School in Hartville.

“My vision is to create a joyful band program that connects with the community through performances in parades, marching band shows and concerts,” Rearick said.

He encourages community members to join the music boosters and become part of the supportive musical community at East Holmes.

Rearick was drawn to East Holmes in part because his wife and father-in-law have had positive experiences working in the district. He wants to give students a chance to learn lifelong skills and build strong connections with fellow musicians.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to serve as the new band director in East Holmes Local Schools,” Rearick said. “As we start our year, I look forward to meeting everyone and getting to know the East Holmes community further. We have a lot planned for our upcoming band season, so I hope you are ready.”
