Buckeye Career Center is preparing to open its doors to over 1,000 new and returning high school students for the coming school year. The year will begin with a Back to School Open House on Aug. 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with orientation days Aug. 21-23.

The Back to School Open House is an opportunity for students and their family members to get acquainted with the building before school begins while also completing several orientation day tasks such as paying fees, applying for a parking pass, registering for a Drug Free Clubs of America membership and more.

Students also can drop off tools or supplies to their lab and get free ice cream at the event. The school nurse will be available, and students can ask questions about their schedule and online forms process. The Back to School Open House is optional.

Students officially begin the school year the week of Aug. 21 with select partner schools attending each day. Students from New Philadelphia, Garaway, QDA, Hiland and Carrollton and digital, homeschooled and open enrolled students should attend Monday, Aug. 21.

Students from Dover, Sandy Valley, Claymont and Newcomerstown will attend their first day at BCC on Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Students from Indian Valley, Conotton Valley, Tusky Valley, TCC, Ridgewood, River View and Strasburg will attend Wednesday, Aug. 23.

All students will attend beginning Thursday, Aug. 24. Orientation days are considered school days, and students are expected to attend from 7:45 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. Student photos will be taken on the orientation days, and breakfast and lunch will be served. Complimentary ice cream will be served by Miller’s Creamery.

Student fees, lunch payments and Drug Free Club membership can be paid during orientation days with cash, check or credit card. Payments also can be made online using PayForIt.net, which is BCC’s online partner for paying fees and adding money to student lunch accounts. Fees also can be paid over the phone at 330-339-2288 ext. 1212.

Incoming high school juniors can still apply to attend Buckeye Career Center for the 2023-24 school year by visiting the district’s website at www.BuckeyeCareerCenter.org. BCC features over 30 career-technical high school programs.
