ADAMHS Board to break ground for recovery center

At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Tuscarawas & Carroll Counties will host a groundbreaking ceremony for a men’s substance use treatment and recovery center at 700 Dudgeon Way in Dennison.
Known as Stillwater Crossing, the 7,900-square-foot center will be the first publicly funded men’s residential treatment center in the two-county area. The building project is anticipated to be complete in May 2024.
“After more than two years of planning and working to secure funds for this new center, we are excited to get this project underway,” said Natalie Bollon, LPCC-S, executive director for the ADAMHS Board of Tuscarawas & Carroll Counties. “Historically, men with a drug or alcohol addiction have needed to leave the community to get this level of care. When they return from an out-of-county treatment center, they have to form a relationship with a new treatment provider and develop a new sober support system to continue their recovery.
“Having this resource in the community will allow men to stay involved with the same providers, support groups and peers that helped move them from addiction to recovery.”
Stillwater Crossing will be a nine-room facility housing 16 men at any given time. Services will include medication, groups, individual therapy, case management and peer support services.
The focus will include supporting the transition from addiction to sobriety and sustaining recovery long-term upon discharge. The program will be operated by OhioGuidestone, which has over two decades of experience with residential treatment services.
The $2.7 million Stillwater Crossing building project is led by TC Architects and is made possible through a combination of ARPA funding, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Capital Funds, and ADAMHS Board funding.
