RVHS boys claim district championship

The River View Boys Soccer team then defeated Steubenville Big Red 3-2 to bring home the 2023 District Championship. The Bears scored first with 8:03 left in the first half. Hayden Walters scored his first goal from a pass from Parker Andrews and the first half would end in 1-0 for the Bears.

In the second half Big Red came out swinging, tying the game 1-1 at the 36:43 mark. Then on what appeared to be a hand ball Big Red would take the lead at 2-1. But the Bears were not done yet. Hayden Walters would score again this time off a header from Parker Andrews tying the game at 2-2 with 6:53 left to play. The momentum had shifted and the Bears were able to capitalize a minute later at 5:54 left as Parker Andrews once again found Hayden Walters as he dropped a pass to complete the game winning hat trick.

Layton Massie added five saves in the goal. The Bears also surpassed the most goals set in a single season with 116. The Bears move on to regional play next Wednesday, Nov. 1, at West Muskingum to face the winner of Bexley or Bishop Watterson.
