Park social set for this weekend
WARSAW – The 47th annual River View Community Park Social and Chicken Barbecue will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 2-4.
The weekend of food, fun and fellowship starts with a pool party from 8-10 p.m. Friday at the River View Pool. Bingo will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday and the main event starts at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Come hungry for the barbecued chicken by the Walhonding Valley Firefighters, homemade noodles, sandwiches, homemade pies and homemade ice cream served from 11:30 a.m. until about 3:30 p.m. The Walhonding Rube Band also will play from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., kids can dive for $47 in coins tossed into the pool at 2 p.m., the Chestnut Ridge Bluegrass Gospel band will play from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and there also will be a kid’s watermelon eating contest and 50/50 raffle drawing at 3 p.m. Post time for the Beaver Run Duck Race is 3:30 p.m. Adopt your plastic duck(s) for a donation and hope he finishes in the money.
All day long on Sunday people also can enjoy the dunk tank and the Rollie Darr Memorial Baseball Tournament.
