Letter to the Editor,
In a recent letter to your paper, Sue Froelich said, “I am thankful that I live in a country where I can state my mind without worrying about someone sending me to prison for my beliefs.” That is probably true for her, but others are not so lucky. While others may not be off to prison, “he” pursues using his DOJ to serve subpoenas to individuals, in this case, Governor Walz of Minnesota, as he singles out Democrats who stand up against “his” agenda. His plan is to do the same for the Democratic mayor of Minneapolis. Jail would be the final plan.
While some of “his” opponents may not be immediately off to jail, although recently protestors in Minneapolis may be in jail, (by the way, I protest on a regular basis, and I am aware of the need to be aware of my surroundings because I speak in opposition to “his” beliefs), “he” intimidates those who do not support “him.” According to the BBC, NBC, etc., Hegseth is attempting to strip Senator (past astronaut) Mark Kelly of his retired rank in the Navy because Senator Kelly is opposed to “his” beliefs.
Recently, “he” indicated that President Biden should be put in jail. Maybe some may think that is not in his plans.
I expect I could give more examples, but right now, these are mostly in the news.
You are probably right, Ms. Froelich; you do not have to worry about speaking your beliefs, but many others do.
