Wooster Emblem Club No. 374 met at the Wooster Elks Lodge for its first meeting after its installation of officers.

Pat Gerber gave the Americanism reading. She also reported that she and three others placed small flags on veterans’ graves in Wooster Cemetery and two wreaths at the Veterans Memorial May 16. Two other people placed garland around the memorial.

Ardenna Hurt made a motion for the club to give a donation to Tessa Michaels for pulling the Emblem float in the Memorial Day parade. Eight women rode on the float, which included Uncle Sam and Betsy Ross.

Gerber announced the Literacy Committee will hold a workshop in July to make bookmarks for schoolchildren.

The club’s installation of new officers was held May 16. The club also celebrated its 65th anniversary at that time. Twenty guests from out of town attended to help mark the occasion.

The Emblem card party will be held at 11 a.m. July 22 at the Wooster Elks Lodge.

Deb Blough-Schmidt announced the Wayne County Historical Society will host a program June 24 at the Elks Lodge. The program, presented by Chris Hart, is titled “Four Days in July” and will focus on 1776.

The club will next meet June 23.
