Yeager scholarship application deadline looms

The Tuscarawas County Historical Society is accepting applications for the Thomas and Lucille Yeager Memorial Scholarship. Applications are due by March 15. The scholarship will be awarded in May.

The scholarship is for high school seniors in Tuscarawas and Carroll counties who plan to continue their education. Candidates should have an interest in history or the social sciences and have volunteer experience such as docent, historical organization volunteer — Trumpet in the Land or Polar Express, for example — preservation activities and more.

This is a monetary award that will be paid to the institution of higher learning and is nonrenewable.

Applications are available at the TuscKent Archives in Founders Hall at Kent State Tuscarawas. The archive is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Applications also have been given to all guidance departments in Tuscarawas and Carroll schools. They can mail or email the application if you call or email at 330-308-7494 or tuschs@tuschs.org.

The scholarship is in memory of longtime society volunteer and trustee Tom Yeager and his wife Lucille. The scholarship has been established by the Yeager family to help further a student’s education and appreciation of history.
