Wilbur J. “Bill” Osborne, 71, of Dover, died Feb. 13, 2010, at his home.Born July 17, 1938, in Detroit, Mich., Bill was a son of the late Wilbur S. and Ruth Osborne. He retried from Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus, where he had been the assistant dean. During his 37 years of education, he taught at the main campus in Kent, as well as the Stark and Tuscarawas campus. He was a member of the Tusco Rifle Club, past chairman of the Civil War Roundtable, and because of his love for his rose garden, he was also a member of the Stark Rose Society.Surviving are his wife, Deb Osborne, whom he married in 1977; sons, Mark (Dana) Osborne of Copley and Matt (Tracey) Osborne of Aspen, Colo.; daughter, Erin (Philip) Osborne Martin of Scotland; and four grandchildren, Kristin, Grant, Nathan, and Tessa.He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Crane.Cremation will be handled through the care of Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover.
