WCPL in Wooster has summer programming for all
The Wayne County Public Library’s main branch in Wooster is offering the following programs in the coming weeks:
Children and families
Block Party will take place Friday, July 7 from 10-11 a.m. Create your own piece of art using blocks. Registration for age 3-5 with an adult caregiver is underway.
Child’s Homestead: Bring the Farm to You will take place Monday, July 10 from 10 a.m. to noon. Set up as an old-fashioned homestead for children and families to explore, attendees can grind and sift grain, comb wool, play with rolling hoops, stilts and more. Bring history to life with over 15 hands-on activities. The event will be outside on the library lawn for all ages. In case of poor weather, the event will be moved to the conference room.
Design Squad Camp will be Tuesdays, July 11, 18 and 25 from 11 a.m. to noon. This camp will tackle hands-on building and design challenges. This program is in partnership with PBS and the Ohio Department of Education and for third grade through fifth grade. Registration is required. Contact the branch for details.
Library Lego League will be Tuesday, July 11 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Each meeting will have a theme or challenge, and all LEGO bricks are provided. The event is for children age 5-12, and adult caregivers are welcome too. No registration required.
Passport to Peru will be Wednesday, July 12 from 2-4 p.m. Drop in during this time to make a llama craft, a pan flute, try Inca cola and more. Registration for age 6-12 is underway.
Teens
Craft a Snack will be Wednesday, July 5 at 3:30 p.m. Registration for age 13-18 is required.
Paracord Bracelets will be Thursday, July 6 from 3-4:45 p.m. for age 13-18.
D&D at the Library will be Tuesday, July 11 and 25 and Aug. 8 and 22 at 4 p.m. Join to play Dungeons & Dragons. The event is for age 13-18.
Teens and adults
Just Journal! will be Saturday, July 8 and Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. Bring your journal. Registration for teens and adults is required.
Tuesday Crafternoon: Bubble Art Stationary will be July 11 from 2-3 p.m. Dress up plain cardstock with simple bubble art.
Tea @ 2 will be Wednesday, July 12 and Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. Join for tea and conversation.
Stitched Heart Journal will be Thursday, July 13 at 2 p.m. Learn how to stitch a simple heart design on a card and turn it into a small blank journal. All materials will be provided. Registration for teens and adults is required.
Adults
Don’t Be a Couch Potato Aerobics will be Monday, July 3 and Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. The August session will be held at the Wooster Recreation and Community Center, 241 S. Bever St. Wear comfy shoes and clothes. Registration for adults is required.
Fantasy Fiction Fanatics Book Club will be Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Registration for age 18 and up is required. The event is on Zoom. Discuss “Piranesi” by Susanna Clarke on July 5 and “The Monsters We Defy” by Leslye Penelope on Aug. 2.
Breakfast Book Chat will be Fridays, July 7 and Aug. 4 at 9:45 a.m. Chat about what books you are reading or listening to this time of year.
Jyoti Meditation will be Tuesdays, July 11 and Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m. The Sanskrit word jyoti means light, specifically an inner light.
The library in downtown Wooster is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
