At the March 2018 regularly scheduled board meeting for the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, support for Starlight School was acknowledged as the board accepted the $717.48 donation from Chipotle restaurant, which was raised through the Dine to Donate fundraiser on behalf of the Starlight School Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports program.

“We only expected to raise $100 or so, but we ended up receiving so much support from the community,” said Nate Kamban, TuscBDD’s superintendent.

A second donation in the amount of $550 for the PBIS program was accepted from Henry Heating and Cooling. Additionally a third donation in the amount of $50 to Starlight School was accepted from Paul Kisselburg, c/o the Ruth Carlson-Starlight Foundation in memory of Peter Carlson.

“We are honored to have this outpouring of support for our school programs,” Kamban said. “This extra funding will be beneficial to our PBIS program, which benefits every child in our school.”

Additional actions Included board members approving the 2018-19 twelve-month employee and Starlight School and Starlight Preschool calendars of operation.

The following board policies were updated and revised: 2.6 Risk Management Plan, 2.12 Access to Employee Exposure and Medical Records, and 2.14 Lockout/Tagout — Control of Hazardous Energy Sources.
