Tuscarawas County Republicans elect Day as central committee chairman

Members of the Tuscarawas County Republican Central Committee unanimously elected Joel Day of New Philadelphia as the new committee chairman at Tuesday night’s reorganizational meeting. He succeeds attorney Thomas Hisrich, who did not seek re-election after serving 34 years as the central committee’s chairman.Day has been an active member of the Tuscarawas County Republican Party for nearly three decades. He served 12 years on New Philadelphia City Council and eight years as a Ward 2 precinct representative. He is employed by the Tarulli HD Media Group of Dover as the director of production. Day and his wife, Jean, are parents of three grown children.“Succeeding chairman Hisrich is an honor that words cannot express” said Day. “Under Tom’s leadership, the Tuscarawas County Republican Party has grown to become one of the leading county parties in Ohio. His exemplary service as a mentor and trusted adviser to our candidates has laid the foundation for a resurgence of the Republican Party in Tuscarawas County.” In addition to Day’s election, the Tusc GOP members unanimously elected Victor Roth of Dover as vice-chairman and Cheryl Ramos of New Philadelphia as secretary.Day said his first order of business as the new central committee chairman will be to organize Republican precinct representatives in all 81 precincts in Tuscarawas County. “Our focus will be on winning the three contested county races in November and help Al Landis retain his seat in the Ohio House” he said. “We will show why our candidates better represent the freedoms desired by Tuscarawas Countians as opposed to their opponents, whose party seems to be fighting to exchange freedom for the rights of the federal government.”
