The Tuscarawas County YMCA has named Meagan Shaheen as its new chief executive officer, effective Oct. 31. Selected by the YMCA Board of Directors following a six-month nationwide search, Shaheen will succeed Tiffany Foxx, who stepped down earlier this year. Shaheen will be responsible for continued membership recovery from COVID, strategic planning, staff development and capital improvements in her new role.

Brian Marsh, chair of the search committee, said, “We look forward to having Meagan as the next CEO of our YMCA. She brings vast experience in staff development, community engagement and operational excellence. We are excited to welcome Meagan into our community and look forward to her help leading our YMCA into the future.”

“The YMCA is a vital piece of so many communities developing youth, promoting healthy living and ensuring social responsibility and has been doing it for a very long time,” Shaheen said. “I am humbled and thankful for this privilege. I’m beyond excited to lock arms with the staff and volunteers to lead the Tuscarawas County YMCA into the future. My family and I look forward to being immersed in this wonderful community.”

Shaheen comes to the Tuscarawas County Y from the YMCA of Central Stark County. A native of Minerva, she has worked her way through the employee ranks, starting as a lifeguard and working her way to the district executive director position in Stark County, where she supervises both the Meyers Lake YMCA and the Eric Snow YMCA in downtown Canton. She also worked in the Akron YMCA Association as a waterfront director at Camp Y-Noah and as the aquatics director at the Kohl Family YMCA.

Shaheen has a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University. She is an active Rotarian and a board member of the Aultman College of Nursing.
