The Tuscarawas County YMCA elects new leadership
The Tuscarawas County YMCA elected 6 members to the board of directors for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1 according to YMCA executive director Keith Lands.Those elected to serve second three-year terms were Mike Fredericks of New Philadelphia, Anjum Azhar and Nathan Springer of Dover and Bill Singhaus of Mineral City. Elected to first terms were Terri Mayle and Jim Boose, both of New Philadelphia. Scott Lawrence of Dover stepped down after serving six years on the board of directors, including being board chairman in 2011 and chairman of the annual campaign in 2013. Elected to be the 2015 chairman of the board of directors was Bill Singhaus of Mineral City. Serving as first vice-chair is Becky Mastin of Dover. Ashley Wagner was elected to a second term as secretary and Scott Heil was elected to serve a second term as board treasurer; both are from New Philadelphia.The YMCA board of directors is made up of 18 YMCA members who volunteer to serve a three-year term. The YMCA is now in its 95th year of service to the young people and families of Tuscarawas County. The YMCA is located at 600 Monroe St. in Dover, and has a program satellite at 215 N. Third St. in Dennison. The YMCA is committed to enriching the lives of everyone in the community through programs and services that promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, and also by providing financial assistance for those unable to afford YMCA memberships and services.
