Special weekend in Columbus for Holmes County Olympians

Five athletes representing Holmes County Public Schools Special Olympics competed at the Ohio Special Olympics State Summer Games, Friday, June 24-Sunday, June 26, on the campus of The Ohio State University and Upper Arlington High School, returning with a lot of precious metal hanging around their necks after winning four gold medals, three bronzes and adding a fourth and fifth place finish as well.

Competitors included:

Jason Compton (First place, Division 16 Mini Javelin; Third place, Division 12 Standing Long Jump)

Blake Day (Third place, Division 22 Mini Javelin; Fourth place, Division 057 100-Meter Dash)

Alexandria Raber (First place, Division 01 Shot Put; Fifth place, Division 04 50-Meter Dash)

Shalyla Shaver (First place, Division 05 50-Meter Dash; Third place, Division 008 Softball Throw)

Jiovanna Weaver (First place, Division A02 Singles Bowling)
