Senior Forum coming to Wooster
The annual Senior Forum, an educational event that's free to anyone age 55 and older, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Greystone Event Center in Wooster.

The annual Senior Forum will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Greystone Event Center, 50 Riffle Road, Wooster.

This is an education event that's free to anyone age 55 and older and is sponsored by Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency on Aging.

One featured speaker is Francine Chuchanis, director of entitlement rights at Direction Home. Her topic is All You Need to Know About Medicare in 2023, and she will discuss current changes in Medicare and tips for selection during open enrollment from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.

Courtney Flickinger is the second featured speaker. She is a communications specialist at Direction Home and a tai ji quan instructor. Tai ji quan is a yang-style form of tai chi, which improves balance, strength and flexibility. Flickinger will demonstrate tai ji quan movements and speak about its benefits and how to register for classes.

The keynote speaker is Kelly Tremaine from the Better Business Bureau, who will speak on scams and how to protect yourself.

There also will be numerous local vendors who will have display tables and educational information pertinent to individuals over age 55. There are still spaces available for interested vendors. Call Lisa Nyhart at 330-264-5603 or email lisa@uwwh.org.

All attendees will receive a complimentary breakfast and lunch, which is being sponsored by Accord Care Community; Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston LTD; JAG Healthcare; Roberts Funeral Home; Smithville Western; Avenue at Wooster; Directions Credit Union; South Market Dental; Trillium Creek Dermatology; and the YMCA of Wooster.
