Aultman Orrville Hospital will offer the Safe Sittertraining course for adolescents age 11 and older on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Aultman Orrville's community room.

Safe Sitter training provides an up-to-date curriculum including hands-on practice in life-saving techniques that prepare babysitters for emergencies. Training includes basic first aid and infant and child choking rescue. Babysitters also receive instruction on age-appropriate care, preventing problem behavior and running a babysitting business.

The program teaches how, why and where injuries can occur so they can be prevented.

To graduate from the Safe Sitters program, students must complete and pass a practical and written test that indicates their comprehension of the curriculum. More than 650,000 adolescent babysitters have graduated from the program.

Aultman Orrville has been a registered Safe Sitter teaching site since 2003. The cost of the course is $50, and the registration deadline is Dec. 8. Call 330-684-4703 to register a son, daughter or child’s babysitter. Space is limited.
