Results unchanged in recounts for Holmes township trustee races

Final election results were unchanged in two township trustees races.Duane E. Miller held on to the Berlin Township trustee’s seat he won Nov. 5, leading Robert Hochstetler by one vote, 231 to 230. In the Walnut Creek Township race, Al Yoder kept his single vote lead over Jordan Beachy, 175 to 174.Mandatory recounts were triggered in both races after the final vote tallies, certified Nov. 18, were within one half of one percent of each other. The certified ballot included provisional votes not counted on election night.The recount was carried out at the Holmes County Board of Elections office Nov. 26.Election night results had Beachy with 171 votes and Yoder with 173. After provisional ballots were counted, both men received a boost by two votes.Numbers in the Berlin Township race were unchanged from Nov. 5 after provisionals were counted.Each race had two seats open on their respective boards of trustees. The other seat in Berlin Township was won by Daniel M. Schlabach, who had 278 votes. Rick Brand won the other Walnut Creek trustee seat, with 256 votes.
