Registration now available for the second annual Holmes County Triathlon

The Healthy Holmes County Coalition is pleased to announce that the second annual Holmes County Triathlon is scheduled for Saturday, July 20. The course features a half-mile swim in Lake Buckhorn, a 13-mile bicycle ride on county roads through the Becks Mills Valley and concludes with a 5K run on the Holmes County Trail. The course was designed to showcase the natural beauty of Holmes County and provide a fitness challenge for all levels of triathletes. The event aims to encourage active lifestyles, highlight fitness role models in the community, and the local economy through recreational tourism. Participants can choose to compete as an individual or as a relay team. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers by age group. Registration is available from now until Sunday, July 14. Registration can be completed online at www.active.com. Paper copies of the registration forms are also available at Kinetics Fitness Center in Millersburg and the Berlin Hotel and Fitness Club. The cost depends on when you register and if you register as an individual or a team. The costs are the lowest for those who register before June 1 with increasing fees for those who register in June and July. Registration has been capped at 200 so do not delay in completing your registration. The event will be sanctioned by CSA Triathlon. The benefit of competing in a sanctioned event is that the event will be administered in a manner consistent with a national triathlon. Participants can use their completion times to count toward the national rankings of athletes. The event is being coordinated by the Healthy Holmes County Coalition. The coalition is a collaborative group of individuals and agencies striving to inspire passion among individuals and organizations to embrace and integrate quality nutrition and physical activity as part of their daily lives to improve the health and well-being of the community. The event has received generous in-kind and monetary support from numerous companies and organizations in the area. Contact Matt Falb at the Holmes County Health District if you would like more information about the event. The Health District’s phone number is 330-674-5035.
