Reeves Victorian Home and Museum announces holiday schedule
The Dover Historical Society announced the J.E. Reeves Victorian Home and Museum will open for the 2016 holiday season on Friday, Nov. 11 and will be open daily through Dec. 22 with tours available from 1-7 p.m. Cost to tour the home is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors 60 and older, and $3 for children age 5-17. Children under age 5 are free.The Reeves Home will offer a number of special events this holiday season. Opening day is Veterans Day, and all veterans will be able to tour the home and carriage house for free. On Wednesdays seniors will receive admission to the home at a discounted admission of $5.Candlelight tours featuring performers from the Tuscarawas Dance Arts Center are Nov. 26 from 5-7 p.m. Regular admission prices apply.Kim Jurkovic, curator from the Tuscarawas County Historical Society, will present a talk on Rear Admiral Stout on Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. Stout, a Dover native, was stationed in Pearl Harbor. The Naval Department honored Stout by naming a destroyer in his honor. Jurkovic will speak about the destroyer, USS Stout. There is no charge for this event.The Christmas Open House and Gingerbread Display is Dec. 11 from 1-7 p.m. A special community price for tours is $3. The Gingerbread Display is a fundraiser for the Dover High School choral department. They will perform in the carriage house and the ballroom of the house. There also will be other musicians performing throughout the day.The J.E. Reeves Victorian Home and Museum is located at 325 E. Iron Ave. in Dover.
