Online auction for Dover High School underway
Dover City Schools, in conjunction with Wallick Auctions, will host an online auction of materials and items from the old Dover High School. Interested parties can view items and place a bid at www.wallickauctions.com. Bidding will conclude on Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.
“Although we had hoped to host an in-person auction, COVID-19 restrictions have made it necessary to conduct the auction online,” superintendent Carla Birney said. “The safety of our participants and community members is our number-one priority.”
The project time line for the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission called for the demolition of the old building this spring. In response, district staff worked to salvage as many items as possible while still making sure the demolition and abatement of the property continued in order to make the best use of the new school and surrounding land.
“We know this building meant a lot to people,” Birney said. “We salvaged what we could to make as many items available as possible for those wanting a piece of our school history and community legacy.”
