Charles McClureCharles Frederick McClure, 96, of Wooster, died Jan. 10, 2010, following a period of declining health. He and his wife, Grace, had resided together at Country Pointe Skilled Care Facility, New Pittsburg, since 2006.Charles was born March 9, 1913, in Plain Township, to the late Alonzo Ross and Florence Mary McClure. He learned to plow with a team of horses when he was 10 years old and never forgot the lay of the land on the farms he lived on as a boy. He received his education in the one-room schools of Chester Township and was a graduate of Chester High School.Charles and Grace farmed and raised their family in Chester Township. In addition to farming, Charles enjoyed sharing a good story with cherished neighbors and friends and played the harmonica to entertain his children and grandchildren.Surviving are his wife, Grace McClure, whom he married in 1933; sons, C. Frederick (Nancy) of Ashland, John (Diana), Franklin (Hollie), and James, all of Wooster; daughters, Betty (Donald) Morrow of Wooster, Charlotte (Kenneth) Phillips of Loudonville, and Jane (Michael) Stoccardo of Washington; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by sons, R. Edward and Benjamin; and sister, Elizabeth (Joseph) Ritter.Services were held Jan. 14, 2010, at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Wooster, with Rev. John Fitch officiating. Burial was in Reedsburg Cemetery.Family requests donations be made to the New Pittsburg Fire & Rescue Squad.Charles’s family thanks the staff of Country Pointe for the care he received while there.
