Kenneth V. Countryman, 84, of Dover, formerly of Middletown, died April 3, 2012, at Park Village Health Care Center, following a period of declining health.Born April 22, 1990, in Highland County, Ken was the son of the late Frank and Mary Countryman. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dover. Following his 1945 graduation from Bainbridge High School, he proudly served his country in the special services division of the U.S. Army during World War II and spent time in Okinawa and the Philippines. He retired in 1990 as an internal auditor for the Endicott Johnson Corporation, New York.Ken will be remembered as a special grandpa and enjoyed the outdoors doing yard work and gardening. He was also an avid fisherman.Ken will be sadly missed by his wife, A. Catherine Countryman, with whom he would have celebrated 54 years of marriage this July 15; daughter, Kim (Scott) Robinson of Dover; grandchildren, Kathleen “Katie” Robinson of Rocky River and Andrew M. Robinson, a student at Ohio University; sister, Louise Borden of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.Cremation took place and burial was in Dover Burial Park.Those who wish to express a fond memory of Ken may sign his online guestbook at http://www.tolandherzig.com.Memorial contributions may be made in Ken’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
