Ira D. Doug Carey, 76, of Massillon, died Sept. 27, 2011, at Affinity Medical Center, following a brief illness.Ira was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Ironton, to the late Clyde and Eltha Carey. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had previously worked at the Timken Company, Republic Steel, and Massillon Steel Castings.Ira is survived by children, Michael Carey of Antioch, Calif., Tim (Janet) Carey of Beach City, and Jeff Carey and Arnie Carey, both of Massillon; his former wife, Nell Carey of Massillon; five grandchildren; and sisters, Wanda (Paul) Perkins of South Point, Shelby (Ron) Malone of Boaz, Ala., Mollianne Dillon of Atlanta, Ga., and Belinda (Donnie) Massey of Palm Harbor, Fla.He was preceded in death by brothers, Michael, Alston, Fred, and Jerry.Family graveside services will be held at a later date in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.The family would like to thank the staff of Altercare of Navarre for their kind and loving care.Memorial contributions may be made to any hospice or veterans organizations.
