Roy M. Fisher, 88, of Dennison, died July 3, 2010, at Union Hospital, Dover, surrounded by his family, following a period of declining health.Born July 24, 1921, in Dennison, Roy was a son of the late Jacob W. and Carrie C. Fisher. A lifelong resident of Twin Cities area, he attended Uhrichsville High School and was a longtime member of the former Grant Street United Methodist Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge.After returning from the war, Roy worked in the area clay industry for a number of years. He later worked for Perma Glas-Mesh Corp. for many years, retiring as a plant supervisor and quality control manager in 1986. In his spare time, he loved golf and fishing.Surviving are his wife, Evelyn I. Fisher, whom he married in 1943; son, James A. “Jim” (Sue) Fisher of Dennison; three granddaughters, Leslie Ann (Travis) Love of Sherrodsville, and Jennifer (Robert “Bub”) Wallace and Kari (Bill) Abel, both of Dennison; seven great-grandchildren, Camille, Corra, and Carter Elizabeth Love, Averi, and Hannah, Kendyl, and Kole Wallace; sister-in-law, Dorothy Fisher of Arlington, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jane Ann Fisher; and brother, Jack Fisher.Services will be held July 7, 2010, at 11 a.m., at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Dennison, with Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution may do so to a charity of their choice.
