Laura J. Lance, 87, of Strasburg, died July 3, 2010, at Union Hospital, following a long illness.Born Sept. 4, 1922, in Lima, Laura was the daughter of the late Clyde and Helen Bercaw. She graduated from Jewett High School and worked at the GE Plant, Dover, for seven years. She was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church and was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved being outdoors tending to her garden and feeding the birds and squirrels.Surviving are a daughter, Pam (Paul) Shonk of New Philadelphia; son, Todd Lance of Strasburg (companion, Linda Tate of Dover); four grandchildren, Laurie (George) Rennard of Tippecanoe, Lisa (Aaron) Blind of New Philadelphia, and James and Jessica Lance, both of Strasburg; four great-grandchildren, George Jr., Bryce, and Alexa Rennard, all of Tippecannoe, and Nadyne Alyza Blose of Sandyville; sister, Ann Haubert of Wilmington; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Bercaw of New Philadelphia and Carol Bercaw of North Canton.She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. A. Lance; and brothers, Ray and Ron Bercaw.Graveside services will be held July 6, 2010, at 2 p.m., in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg, with Pastor Gary Friend officiating. Following services, a funeral reception will take place.
