The cost of COVID-19 among small businesses has been felt throughout the area, but one aspect among those struggling to create revenue during this time is the entertainment industry.

With many gatherings being canceled and lost to COVID, among them are those who entertain at the various gatherings.

For singer/songwriter Timothy Noble, the loss of engagements has been particularly tough.

Noble has become a welcome addition to the Holmes County family, having performed for the past several years at Jann Hershberger’s Share-A-Christmas Night of Music.

Noble said their normal schedule during the holiday season begins early and sees them performing nearly every night at some type of venue. That has not been the case this Christmas season.

“I would venture to say that we have maybe a grand total of three performances scheduled,” Noble said. “December has always seen us doing something every single day, and that has been a big part of our income. It has had a major impact on us, as it has on almost everyone who is in the entertainment field.”

A talented pianist, singer and songwriter, Noble and his wife Hosanna, who is a gifted violinist, have been performing to the masses for some time, and all of that has taken a back seat to COVID-19 as they have watched event after event being canceled due to the virus.

That has taken a monumental bite out of their income, so Noble turned to the studio to produce a new Christmas album titled “Fear Not,” a series of 12 Christmas songs that feature Noble on the piano, his wife on the violin and the two singing along with Noble’s sister Amanda.

“This was a perfect time for us to sit down and produce a new album, and we really had a good time producing ‘Fear Not,’” Noble said. “One thing we really tried to focus on with this CD was producing something that could put people’s minds at ease, bring them some peace and take their minds off of all the worries in the world right now, from the virus to politics. Hopefully this is an encouragement to people everywhere.”

Many of the songs also are accompanied by chorus background arrangements, and the songs were all produced by Noble.

“I love performing, but producing original songs is also very enjoyable for me,” Noble said.

“Fear Not” and the rest of the Nobles’ released CDs are available for purchase at www.timothynobleplayspiano.com.

Noble’s skills on the baby grand piano have caught the attention of many in the music industry. Lari Gross, award-winning and nationally renowned producer and arranger from Nashville Tennessee, said this of Noble:

“I’ve never heard something done so well by someone so young. His fingering, arpeggios and technique both with right and left hand are truly on a professional level. It is inspiring to me to see such a young person use his talent in the field of gospel music and to honor the Lord Jesus Christ. The future holds great things for someone like him, and I pray that as he continues to use his talent for the Lord, that he will be covered by God’s grace and be inspired by the Holy Spirit. I was truly taken back by his performance.”

The Nobles had been performing in Branson, Missouri with nationally renowned pianist and performer Dino Kartsonakis.

Those who have heard Noble play locally all have enjoyed his talent and his wit as he has entertained at Night of Music.

While the missing income is a thorn in his side right now, Noble said another large part of what he and his wife miss is the chance to meet others during their performances and to build relationships with fans.

“That’s a big part of what we do and why we do this,” Noble said. “That’s the whole point behind a live performance. We love seeing faces light up and then getting a chance to converse with people after a show. That is tough right now, and it is something we miss deeply. I think we as humans need that interaction, and people are starving for that kind of connection right now. People are missing times to get together and build relationships. Hopefully we can be an encouragement to people through our music during this time.”
