More space, more specialty shopping
Since opening in 2005, The Grove Gift Shoppe, on the corner of Second and Walnut streets in Dover, has welcomed so many customers, it has become necessary to include a major expansion of the building. The reason we moved into more of the storefront, said owner Jill Grove, is because the support from the community has been so wonderful. We wanted a bigger and brighter area serving people better. Same building, but larger area. The expansion includes more square footage for additional products, and an area for custom work space where personalized gift bags and floral arrangements can be done. The family owned business includes Willie and Jill Grove, son Josh, daughters Tiffany, Stephanie and Brittany, daughter-in-law Alison, and sons-in-law Jeremy and Kyle.We also have four grandchildren who like to help out, said Jill Grove, carrying and moving things in the store. In addition to Crossroads Candles, a Paula Deen line, specialty dinnerware, Buyers Choice collectible carolers, wood furniture pieces, kids art, picture frames, primitive items, floral arrangements, and a large Vera Bradley line, The Grove Gift Shoppe has added a line of Fudge in a Jar, Legacy cards, and birthday decorations.Every card is $2.99, said Grove, and the birthday decorations are for all ages. People can also stop in for a sample of the fudge. The Grove Gift Shoppe greets customers from all over the United States and has shipped items as far as Texas and Atlanta. They pride themselves on their customer service, gift bagging every purchase, and the convenient parking available.Weve been told we have the largest selection of Vera Bradley items in the area, added Grove. The line includes handbags, travel pieces, and stationery. The Vera Bradley line is very popular.Seasonal items are available, and special events occur throughout the year. A special anniversary celebration will take place April 30 and May 1, commemorating five years of business. Refreshments will be served, door prizes given away, and surprise specials throughout the event. Two of The Grove Gift Shoppes largest events of the year take place in October and December. The store participates in Breast Cancer Awareness month, and their Christmas Open House draws crowds that anticipate the holiday decorations, specials, and unique gift items. We are hoping, said Grove, that with more area now, we will be able to do more events to support school and organization projects in the community. The special wrapping with each purchase, and the quality service and atmosphere set this shop above many others.
