Retired Wayne County prosecuting attorney Daniel Lutz was honored by the Wayne County commissioners recently at the swearing-in ceremony of his replacement, Angela Wypasek.

Lutz served Wayne County for more than 30 years in various roles in the justice system.

“Since leaving active duty (U.S. Navy) in 1991, Daniel R. Lutz has served as an assistant public defender, assistant prosecutor, Orrville City law director and a partner in the law firm of Kropf, Wagner, Lutz and VanSickle,” commissioner Sue Smail said, reading the proclamation. “In 2011 (he) accepted an appointment to become the Wayne County prosecuting attorney. In November 2012 he was elected to his first full four-year term. He was re-elected to two more four-year terms in 2016 and 2020.”

According to the proclamation, Lutz retired from active duty in the U.S. Navy in 1991 and the reserve component in 2013 for a total of 25 years of service. He was selected as Ohio’s Outstanding Prosecuting Attorney in 2017 and given the Leadership Award in 2021 by Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association.
