Lady Pirates cross country team advances on to state
The Garaway girls cross country team qualified for the Div. III state tournament by finishing sixth at the regional meet at Pickerington North High School on Oct. 29.
Megan Schwartz finished 17th in 20:21 to lead the Lady Pirates. Kenadi Yoder was their next highest finisher, placing 39th in 21:07.
Jessie Johnson finished 51st in 21:36, Mya Wengerd 75th in 22:14 and Tori Beachy 120th in 23:47 to round out Garaway’s scorers.
Boys cross country
Garaway finished 14th in the team standings at the Div. III regional meet at Pickerington North High School on Oct. 29.
Nathan Money was the Pirates’ top placer, finishing 58th in 18:02. Nic Palmer was close behind him, placing 71st in 18:18.
Seth Zimmerman finished 92nd in 18:41, Carter Travis 113th in 19:25 and Jase Miller 124th in 20:04 to complete Garaway’s scoring.
Volleyball
Garaway’s season came to an end with a 25-16, 25-19, 25-16 loss to Meadowbrook in a D-III district semifinal on Oct. 26.
Morgan Schlabach paced the Lady Pirates with 13 kills and 12 digs. Shelby Gerber chipped in 24 assists while Hailey Schlabach contributed 13 digs. Nicole Custer (six kills, two blocks) and Jordyn Keim (two blocks) also played well for Garaway.
The Lady Pirates ended the season with a 14-11 record.
