James Green obituary
James W. Green, 67, of Dennison, died Feb. 9, 2010, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer that he had fought since 2006.Born June 1, 1942, in Tango, W.Va., James was a son of the late Lowell Warren and Clara Jeanette Green. A resident of Ohio since his teen years, he worked as a transport driver in the Massillon and Navarre areas for many years and was a member of Teamsters Local #92. From 1960-70, he was employed by Ferris Produce, Massillon, and then worked the next 31 years for Nickles Bakery, Navarre, until his retirement in 2001.Jim loved traveling with his wife, Pat, and his beloved canine, Geronamo, enjoying many great vacations with the two of them over the years, which are well documented in the countless photos he took. He also enjoyed playing guitar and shooting.Surviving are his wife, Patricia Ann Green; twin daughters, Janet Porter and Diane (Frank) Stinespring, both of Massillon; son, James W. (Joy) Green Jr. of Massillon; eight grandchildren, Mike Porter II, Sara Clouse, Tori Porter, Jenn Green, Keith Stinespring, Staci Stinespring, Alan Green, and Wes Green; three great-grandchildren, Lexi, Mike III, and Bruce; stepchildren, Gail (Dave) Brown of Gnadenhutten, Bobbi Kohler (companion, Gary Jenkins) of Dennison, Patsianne (Steve) Carew of Boise, Idaho, Craig Malterer (companion, Jen Morrison) of Port Washington, Michael Malterer (companion, Hollie Oswald) of Dennison, and Kylie Malterer of Dover; 20 stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; half-brother, Tim Brogan of South Charleston, W.Va.; former brother-in-law, Chan Ferrell; a niece, Tammy (Rob) Keppler of Strasburg; and twin great-nieces to whom he was like a grandfather, Megan and Taylor Keppler.He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Irene Ferrell; and his loyal canine companion, Geronamo.In keeping with Jims wishes, he will be cremated without public visitation or services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at his home.Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution may do so to the American Cancer Society.
