Charles E. Donohoe, 84, of Uhrichsville, died August 2, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.Born August 27, 1927, in Dennison, Charles was a son of the late Thomas Patrick and Blanche Elizabeth Donohoe. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country at the close of World War II. He was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area, with the exception of his years in the military, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church throughout his life. He retired in 1989 after many years as a truck driver for several area companies through Teamsters Local #92.A 46-year member of the Dennison Eagles, Charles was also a member of the Dennison American Italian Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life, and visiting and playing cards with friends.On Dec. 12, 1953, Charles married the former Jo Ann Baker, with whom he enjoyed nearly 44 years of marriage until her passing in 1997. They are survived by sons, Thomas (Elaine) Donohoe of Northville, Mich., and Mark (Sherry) Donohoe of Uhrichsville; daughter, Julie (Dwain) Donohoe-Culp of Pataskala; grandchildren, Andrew (Erin) Donohoe of Mason, Christen (Andrew) Mahoney of Beachwood, and Natalie Culp of Pataskala; and great-granddaughter, Maya Donohoe of Mason. Charles is also survived by brothers, Thomas Donohoe, Paul “Lumpy” (Mary Kae) Donohoe, and Robert (Joyce) Donohoe, all of Uhrichsville; sister, Margie Zanon of Uhrichsville; sister-in-law, Vivian Donohoe of New Philadelphia; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends, neighbors, and extended family members.In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and George Gross; brothers, James and Matthew Donohoe; brother-in-law, Henry Zanon; and sister-in-law, Ruby Donohoe.Services were held August 6, at Immaculate Conception Church, Dennison, with Father Anthony Lonzo officiating.
