Betty A. Arthurs
Betty A. Arthurs, 88, of Uhrichsville passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2014 at Union Hospital in Dover, after a period of declining health.Born Dec. 23, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Arthur and Lettie Orine (Hayes) Schwab. A lifelong resident of the area, Betty was a 1943 Uhrichsville High School graduate. On Jan. 17, 1946, Betty married Al Arthurs with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Betty and Al were blessed with four children, Robert (Brenda) Arthurs of Gilmore, Jeffrey (Diane) Arthurs of Uhrichsville, Ann (David) Marino of Dover and Karen Sue (Gary) DeMattio of Uhrichsville; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. She is also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law, Doyle Kinsey, Marguerite Schwab, Emily and Herb Crites, and Carole Arthurs, and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Schwab; sisters, Alma Smith, Peggy Weaver, and Lois Kinsey and a great-grandson, Christian. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She loved to sew and took great pride in caring for her home and family. During World War II, she did payroll for Clay City Pipe Co. in Uhrichsville and Indiana. Later she worked in a chemical laboratory for a Massillon steel mill, at the Uhrichsville Sears catalog store, and ran the music store in Uhrichsville for Rev. Morganstern.Services, officiated by Rev. Larry Malterer, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3 in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home (www.lindseyfh.com) in Dennison. Interment followed in Uhrichsvilles Union Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
