Bernard F. "Bernie" Leach, age 87 of Massillon and formerly of Orrville, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at Danbury Senior Living in Massillon, following a period of declining health.

Bernie was born June 1, 1931, in Colchester, Vermont, to the late Guy and Kathleen (McKenzie) Leach. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Vermont and served as a radioman 2nd Class in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He married Jacqueline A. "Jackie" Duff on Nov. 6, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Bernie worked as a manufacturing manager for the former Westinghouse Corporation in Orrville for 31 years, retiring August 1990.

Bernie was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Orrville Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Orrville American Legion. He was a former board member of the Orrville Public Library and the Orrville Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed reading, playing in several bridge clubs, attending Orrville sporting events and visiting with friends at Ron's Barber Shop. He loved golfing and working in his retirement as the starter at The Pines Golf Club. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Jackie Leach of Massillon; daughter, Stacey (Bobby) Baker of Wooster; son, Kevin (Casey) Leach of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren, Reilly, Connor and Shayleigh Leach; and a sister, Marion of New Hampshire.

Bernie was preceded in death by siblings, Edward, William, Betty and June.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 541 Spring St., Orrville, with Father Ronald J. Turek officiating. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, where military rites will be observed.
